Initial Written Case Review

Our initial written case review is conducted by email or secure online messages. We do not require a video meeting or phone call.

We review the information you provide regarding your residency status, Japanese property, rental or sale status, prior Japanese tax filings, and whether you may need a tax representative in Japan.

After the review, we provide a written summary of the likely services required, key documents to prepare, potential tax filing issues, and an estimated fee for the engagement.

The initial written case review does not include tax return preparation, detailed tax calculations, communication with tax authorities, filing of tax representative notification forms, or unlimited follow-up questions.

Complex cases, including property sales, prior-year filings, multiple properties, co-ownership, foreign company ownership, inheritance-related acquisitions, missing purchase documents, or urgent filing deadlines, may require a Complex Written Case Review from JPY 110,000.

Bank charges, international remittance fees, currency conversion costs, and payment processing fees are borne by the client.

Kudan Partners does not advance tax payments, penalties, interest, government fees, bank charges, or remittance fees on behalf of clients unless separately agreed in writing.

The legal obligation to pay Japanese taxes remains with the taxpayer or property owner.
