Common Types of Inquiries

Services Outside Our Scope

We do not provide foreign tax advice, legal advice, immigration services, real estate brokerage, money transfer services, address lending, general mail receipt, or custody of client funds.

What Happens Next

  1. Initial Inquiry
Submit a brief description of your situation through this form. The initial inquiry is free and does not create a client relationship.
  2. Eligibility and Case Review
We review whether the matter may be within our Japanese tax service scope. We may ask for additional non-sensitive facts before proposing any paid work.
  3. Written Review or Scope and Fee Proposal
If appropriate, we may propose an Initial Written Case Review for JPY 77,000 including Japanese consumption tax. Complex reviews start from JPY 110,000 including Japanese consumption tax. Alternatively, we may explain a proposed service scope, fees, and next steps. No paid work begins without your acceptance.
  4. Engagement
Tax representative setup, annual tax notice administration, tax return filing, and other services begin only after the engagement scope, fees, and terms have been agreed in writing.
  5. Secure Document Request
When documents are required for an agreed review or engagement, we will provide instructions for securely sharing them.

Communication

Our standard communication is by email and secure online communication so that the facts, requested documents, scope, and instructions can be reviewed and recorded clearly. Video meetings or phone calls are not included in the standard service unless separately agreed.

We will acknowledge receipt by email. Response times may vary depending on Japanese weekends, public holidays, the complexity of the inquiry, and whether basic information is missing.

    Property sale details (optional)
Please complete this section only if you are planning to sell or have already sold the property. These figures are used only for an initial suitability screen and do not constitute a tax calculation, refund estimate, or final fee quote.

By submitting this form, you acknowledge that the information provided will be used to review and respond to your inquiry. Please see our Privacy Policy for details.

Submitting this form does not create a client relationship or start paid work. A paid written review or another engagement begins only after we separately confirm the scope, total fees, payment timing, service start timing, contract period, renewal, cancellation and refund conditions, exclusions, and engagement terms in writing.

The legal obligation to pay Japanese taxes remains with the taxpayer or property owner. Kudan Partners does not advance tax payments, penalties, interest, government fees, bank charges, or remittance fees on behalf of clients. Refund receipt, holding, or onward payout to clients is not currently handled by Kudan Partners. If the matter requires Kudan Partners to receive, hold, or pay out a refund to the client, we cannot accept the engagement under the current service. Client fund custody, sale proceeds, rent, remittance handling, general mail receipt, and address lending are not included in the standard service.
